This head, full of noise

Idle hands, knotted

Staring holes into nothing

No, open the tap

Deny not the flood

When I paint, I leave the room.

My painting has become an outlet, a most vital form of therapy.

In my practice I only to better discover myself through the medium. There is nothing else, no pretension norhidden motive.

Shining the light into the dark crevices of your own mind can be frightening… self-examination can be an ugly experience. I try always to think like a stoic, to examine my thoughts without judgement and to translate them into images which perhaps can be digested. Understood, even. Not necessarily by the artist.

For that reason, I will rarely attempt to explain what I create. Once the child is birthed, it is free to define and discover itself.

Photography was my primary mode of creative expression for over a decade before I took up painting and remains a key part of my practice to this day.

I have these foundational years to thank for developing my eye for the finding the poetry in the ephemeral.

This remains my focus… finding moments of beauty in order, and disorder.
